Gently, he put his hand on her forehead; careful as always, so not to disturb her sleep.
The morning sun was finding its way through the half open window. He looked at her face. How beautiful she was. Strands of hair carelessly hid the face. Her eyes were so serene they could hide the world within. Her tender eyelids vowed to protect them from everyone else. The neatly arranged rainbow shaped eyebrows made all the colors go blind.
Her light pink, soft cheeks could make even rose petals shy away. Her beautiful lips, gave her probably the world’s best smile.
She was the world for him. Memories hit him like a photographer’s reel. Right from the beginning when he met her, all the instances, meetings, the never ending phone calls, the long waiting hours…they struck the chords of his soul.
He bent a little to kiss her forehead but no..he should let her sleep. She is tired. He kept on rehearsing how he would apologize for his mistakes once she wakes up..once..twice.. thrice. So he kept gazing at her, trying to pour out the immense love he had through his eyes. She had wanted a corner, but in reality she was ruling his heart.
And then there was a knock at the door. “Sir”
‘Yes’! He replied; turning in a flash.
Fear hit him hard. His body went numb.
“It has been 12 hours. We need to take the body for postmortem.”
Destiny’s favorite son. That’s what people used to call him once.
